CommanderBond File Manager
Commanderbond is a flexible easy-to-use file manager which can emulate the classic 2-panel 'commander' style.
It goes further than that, however - as many panels as you like, arranged however you want, and lots of unique features:
Enanced selection — avoid losing the selection as you scroll around in a long list of files. Mark files with the spacebar and they stay marked (with the *) until you unmark them, or press escape: you can then perform the usual actions: delete, copy, move etc. on all marked and selected files at once |
Bookmarks sidebar: just like your browser, drag and drop directories onto the sidebar to bookmark them, organise your bookmarks into folders. Shortcut buttons take you to your 'home' or the 'tmp' directory The heart icon is a 'view bookmark' which saves the complete state of the current window — all the directories you have open, their sizes and positions. 'Get phots' is a view for fetching pictures off my digital camera: on the left the camera's directory, on the right my 'photos' directory. |
See many directories at once. Commanderbuttons split the window vertically or horizontally. Each new 'pane' holds its own directory of files; you can drag files between directories, compare contents, have two (or more) views of the same directory... organise them however you want. This feature is key to CommanderBond's flexibility, it combines the advantage of tabbed interfaces ('pages' of information filed away neatly) with the commander interface (multiple views, copy between them) |
Draggable icons. To move a file just drag its icon. Every file has an icon, all icons are draggable. On the other hand, the filenames themselves are not draggable. This cuts down on 'accidental drags' and makes it easy to select multiple files with a sweep of the mouse. Drag files to and from other applications to copy and save. |
